Building Design - New Construction Buildings need to be designed to work well.  Design incorporates much more than just esthetics.  A building and the land around it must function as needed while being esthetically pleasing; and it must be buildable.  The more effort that is put into design, the fewer unintentional compromises and sacrifices will be made during construction.  Many fantastic projects on paper have been altered greatly while being built.  It is often forgotten that the steps between concept and occupancy is design and construction.  There must must be a partnership between the designer, the builder and the client.  Each has a role and must let the others do theirs.  Having a designer that knows how to build and a builder who knows the value of well thought out design will create beautiful places.
